Munster Technological University, through the Hincks Centre, will lead this project providing clarity of vision, leadership, project management as well as subject expertise.

Centria University of Applied Sciences Ltd

Centria is a higher education and R&D institution in northwest Finland with a mission to support the development of businesses in rural and sparsely populated Ostrobothnia regions. Centria develops and promotes technology, related new knowledge, and skills for local enterprises. The University also assists them in overcoming challenges related to business start-up and growth. Teaching at Centria nurtures entrepreneurial spirit within young people and supports them to establish new businesses.

Ludgate Operations CLG

The Ludgate Hub is Ireland’s first rural digital hub. It opened in Summer 2016 and is located in Skibbereen, West Cork, Ireland, providing a state of the art, 10,000 sq foot co-working space with a 1000MB super-fast fiber optic broadband connection. Ludgate has established a culture and ecosystem of innovation and digitisation in West Cork. Featuring as a case study in the Action Plan for Jobs, South West (2015 – 2017), the Ludgate Hub is cited as an example of innovation in rural Ireland and a blueprint for other rural areas Internationally.

Biotech North

Biotech North is a knowledge-based business cluster in Northern Norway with a focus on the development of marine health products from sea to market. The cluster is a network for connecting established industry, investors, government and support and R&D with start-ups. Biotech North focuses on biotechnology as an engine in the green shift and circular economy, and especially on the use of residual raw materials from fisheries and aquaculture, new marine resources such as macroalgae and low-trophic fish, as well as bioactivity molecules that can be found through marine bioprospecting. The end products are marine health products in the broadest sense, such as dietary supplements, new medicines, functional ingredients for food and feed, or enzymes used in diagnostics. The companies in the cluster possess valuable knowledge about various applications and commercialization within these sectors.

SSNV has 29 years experience of engagement with entrepreneurs and SMEs in the private and community sectors. Typical support includes Business Planning assistance, mentoring, research, introduction to expert intermediaries, introductions to sources of investment, workshops and other business support.

Kokkolanseudun Kehitys Ltd

Kokkolanseudun Kehitys Ltd, KOSEK, is a regional development company owned by the municipality of Kokkola and the municipality of Perho and focuses our work in the region of Central Ostrobothnia of Finland. KOSEK is a versatile, free-of-charge supplier of business development services, which are intended for all entrepreneurs and companies, regardless of their stage of development and size. It is our task to further develop the business environment throughout our region and to promote co-operation between the towns and municipalities and the business sector.

Community Enterprise Association Ireland

The Community Enterprise Association Ireland (formerly NACEC) are primarily funded by the government of Ireland to support and represent 270+ community enterprise locations throughout Ireland. We have a strong strategic interest in supporting our members and their clients and Target Circular will do this. We have engaged with the bridging project (SSDM) to learn about the concepts and share our insights. Continuing this, we and our members will engage actively with the project. Specifically CEAI will promote the training and resources to our member business advisors in the NPA region of Ireland. We are also keen to engage with similar entities in other NPA regions to learn and cooperate together. Finally, the project will inform our activities and organisational policy including our interactions with the government of Ireland regarding how to improve the support SMEs receive.

Donegal County Council

Donegal County Council will participate as an associate partner in Target Circular Supporting Sustainable SMEs to Success. Through our Local Enterprise Office (LEO) in collaboration with our Economic Development Directorate, we provide business support to start-ups and growing SMEs in Donegal. In particular, sustainability and circularity are an increasing priority for all sections within Donegal County Council in particular the LEO, Economic Development, and Water & Environment. We are eager to learn about new evidence-based tools to better support entrepreneurs and support the circular economy in North West Ireland. We commit to advising the project partnership regarding our needs regarding business support: participating in the project’s training activities: and, assessing how well these novel tools are received by our clients. We shall also act as an intermediary between the partners and SMEs by communicating the outcomes of the project to the broader business support ecosystem in the region. We are happy to support this important work which could be of value to us in our day-to-day activities and so improve the support SMEs and start-ups receive from us.
